Late Shri Shiv Prasad Soni settled here during British Era. He had 3 sons namely Late Shri Budulal Soni, Late Shri Ramsharan Soni & late Shri Santoshilal Soni. The eldest son Budulal Soni had only 1 son Dhaniram Soni who after B.Com. from CMD College, Bilaspur did M.Com. & LL.B. from Govt. Hamidia College, Bhopal and Chartered Accountancy from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi. He served in British Pharmaceuticals Raptakos, Brett & Co.Ltd. Bombay and Essar Shipping Co.Ltd. in Madras and Goa and was appointed Financial Controller in an Oil Co. in West Germany but instead he evolved himself in practice in Bhopal and is practicing as D.R. Soni & Co. CAs, with a branch office in Andheri, Bombay. His son Piyush Soni after serving in Zakarta, Indonesia. is presently serving as Zonal Business Manager in Future Axiom Telecom Ltd. Bangalore and 2nd son Vinay Soni a software engineer after serving in New Jersy USA and Scotland (U.K.) is presently serving as Business Analyst in Royal Bank of Scotland, Business Centre, Gurgaon, Haryana.

Pendraroad (Gaurela) is a place known world-wide right since British rule. When there was no medicinal cure of killing decease T.B. in the whole world, doctors use to advice patients for the Atmospheric cure. It was since then t.b.patients from across the Globe use to take treatment at SANATORIUM (situated near Duttatreya Temple) of Pendraroad, few in chronic stage died were burried in the graveyard in the campus of sanatorium and quite a few returned back to their countries like U.K., U.S.A. and other European countries in sound health surprising their near and dear ones. The Sanatorium had its own Post-office and film-theater, where for quite a long time Rohini Prasad Dubey was the Post-Master. In good olden days before the advent of Forest-contractors and their saw mills in Pendraroad, this small village was surrounded by dense forest and there was no Film-theater in Pendraroad. Lately near the Railway station Narmada Talkies and later on Krishna talkies was started by Nagayach family. The fresh oxygen delivered by the trees of sarai and hurra (myrobalans) kept the masses healthy and fit. Dr. Bonham with his nurse wife were example of dedicated services to the humanity in the mission hospital at Jyotipur. Later Jogi Sir (father of Ajit Pramod Kumar Jogi the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh)and John Sir taught many children in the Mission School opposite Gaurela (Thana)police station. The village has produced personalities like Dr.Kamal Jain and Dr. Tamrakar, Ajit Jogi, an Engineer (meritorious gold-medalist BE from MACT, Bhopal and IPS & IAS too), Ram lakhan Pandey and eminent engineer in USA, Mohd. Iliyas, BE in Quwait (younger brother of Hasan Master a metriculate from Lahiri School, Chirmiri) late Gajanand Gattani and Ganpatlal Gattani Engineer retired from Orient Paper Mill Amlai as Vice-President, Late Krishna Kumar Gupta BE and Chemical Engineer (Bombay) honoured by the President of India,late Dr. N.K. Sonar, Bomaby (elder brother of Mathura Prasad Soni)and many more including me Dhaniram Soni, a practicing Chartered Accountant in Bhopal after having worked with British Company Raptakos, Brett & Co. Ltd. Bombay and Essar group Madras/Goa. I am beholden to my small village Pendraroad where I was born and educated in Pendra High School. Long-live Pendraroad and long-live all the residents there.

it is a very nice place like a hill station. samosa & jalibi is very famous dishes in pendra & also diet & phisical college it's specialitey.

PENDRA is a place ? no ..... its ME ,i left "HIM " in '84... but it stayed on with me .... dreams.... thoughts.. lingo ... memories ...friends ofcours Samosas, Mixturs ... khoya ki Jalebi ,bhandha talb , mission school , krishna talkies ganesh & durga utsav programs ,W.T. Travels to bilaspur & shadol ... its Mangli Bazar ... datatrey dashahra , malaniya ... & my house. After 26 years ,We were their in this april to say goodbye to our place& people . Im not their any more but its with me .... will not leave me ever ...i KNOW .

Is the Gooseberry tree still there on the hill top ? It was there in 1984-86 when I stayed in the old PWD quarters.!! I miss very much the old days. Undescribable feelings!! I had very good friends!!Many of them used to come to Gurukul every evening to see me, all the way from pendra road on their bicycles. I can remember only one name from them. Satyendra Narayan who lived in railway quarters. I don't know where they are now! I left Gurukul in 1986 for Bilaspur. The School is opened in the year 2000. under the management of Clement John Education Society. Presently Mr. Vikash Tyagi is the Director of the Institute. Mr. S.S.Lall is Principal & Mrs. Kalpana Tiwari is the vise-principal of the school. Its a higher Secondary school with approx. 500 students under the affiliation of CGBSE.232171. It is the one & only school from Kargi road to marwahi which is in ENGLISH MEDIUM upto 12th standard. No doubt its "the centre of Quality Education" for the region.
